Pursuit of the Great American Dream America claims to have made great progress since the days of my youth in the 1950’s. Abortion is legal. We can shop on Sunday instead of going to church. Our high school children enjoy safe sex. Divorce is freely accepted. We’ve replaced adultery with affairs. Relationships have replaced marriage, children and family. Pornography is freely enjoyed by the population at large. Homosexuality is now an alternative life style. Everyone works one or more jobs. We no longer waste time relaxing. Email replaces personal conversation. Prayer and the Ten Commandments have been removed from public places. In political correctness, your spouse has become your partner. Daycare is now raising your children. We’ve progressed beyond lying to making misstatements. Dishonesty prevails; just avoid getting caught. Legalized gambling is prevalent throughout our country. We pierce our body and color it with tattoos. Alcohol and drugs have enriched our quality of life. And undoubtedly more improvements are to come. How sad that my parents didn’t live to experience the great American dream! |
